RFC - Abracadabra DAO votes for week 17/02 - 21/02:
Summary:
This proposal asks AbracadabraDAO to engage in the ArbitrumDAO votes for this week. ArbitrumDAO has a weekly voting cycle, ending every Thurday. The votes for this week are:
- Arbitrum Audit Program
- [CONSTITUTIONAL] AIP: ArbOS Version 40 Callisto
- Request to Increase the Stylus Sprint Committee’s Budget
In the following section, I will present a short summary, why should AbracadabraDAO vote in the topic, and a voting direction suggestion.
Motivation
I am a delegate on ArbitrumDAO and I understand how time-consuming governance processes can be, as they are not limited to forum posts, but also several calls where the proposals are discussed. Sometimes, this is overwhelming for protocols contributors/community, so the engagement is not that high. However, every week are discussed/voted topics that has a direct impact in the protocols that are part of the Arbitrum Ecosystem. For this reason, I present this week’s votes for the community appreciation, as I believe it is important that AbracadabraDAO to be part of those decisions.
This proposal suggests upgrading Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova to ArbOS 40 “Callisto.” The upgrade aims to incorporate changes from Ethereum’s upcoming Pectra upgrade, including EIP-7702 for EOAs to execute smart contract code, EIP-2537 for efficient cryptographic operations on the BLS12-381 curve, and EIP-2935 for storing historical block hashes. Additionally, a minor fix for Arbitrum Stylus is included.
Voting direction suggestion:
FOR: This will help Abritrum to stay up to date with Ethereum mainnet forks and will bring features Abracadabra can benefit from, like EIP 7702.
The proposal to establish an Arbitrum Audit Committee aims to subsidize audits for projects on the Arbitrum network with a $10 million budget, fostering development and ensuring security. An additional $60,000 is allocated for a technical expert. The committee will include members from the Arbitrum Foundation, Offchain Labs, and a technical expert elected by the DAO.
Voting direction suggestion:
FOR: This is something Arbitrum needs to help to support builders. Abracadabra could benefit from it as well. The proposal is not perfect, as there are a few items that need more explanation/details (items like acquiring tokens from the projects, for example). We should vote FOR and discuss those items before the onchain vote, instead of killing the idea now.
This is the onchain vote for this proposal. The reasoning remains the same.
Arbitrum Voting
Arbitrum Votes for the 2 snapshot votes topics will end February 27th.
If this RFC becomes an AIP and pass, Abracadabra would be voting following the voting direction suggestions proposed here.
As an alternative, I suggested a few items that would help to reduce the governance overhead.
