Abracadabra Money DAO Governance Framework
Welcome to the governance framework for Abracadabra Money.
This document outlines how governance works within the Abracadabra ecosystem, including how ideas evolve from early discussions into formal proposals and eventually into on-chain decisions.
The goal of this framework is to ensure transparent decision-making, structured proposal development, and strong community participation.
I. Governance Overview
Governance within Abracadabra DAO enables the community to propose and vote on changes affecting the protocol and ecosystem.
This may include:
-
Protocol upgrades
-
Risk parameter adjustments
-
New collateral listings
-
Ecosystem integrations
-
Treasury management
-
Strategic initiatives for the Abracadabra ecosystem
Governance participation is powered by Spell Token ($SPELL) holders.
Ideas typically begin as informal discussions before progressing into structured proposals through the governance process described below.
II. Governance Proposal Lifecycle
The governance process follows several stages that help refine proposals before they reach a vote.
1. Idea Discussion
Community members are encouraged to start by sharing ideas through:
-
The Idea Discussion section of the forum
-
Community channels such as Discord
This stage allows contributors to gather early feedback and determine whether the idea has community interest.
2. Request for Comment (RFC)
Once an idea gains traction, it should be formalized into an [RFC] – Request for Comment.
The RFC stage allows the community to:
-
Review the proposal
-
Suggest improvements
-
Identify risks or technical considerations
-
Help refine the proposal before governance voting
RFCs are posted in the RFC section of the forum and should follow the standard RFC template.
Authors are expected to remain active in the discussion and incorporate feedback when appropriate.
3. Abracadabra Improvement Proposal (AIP)
When an RFC reaches sufficient maturity and community support, it can be converted into an Abracadabra Improvement Proposal (AIP).
AIPs represent formal governance proposals that may proceed to a vote.
Each AIP should include:
-
A clear proposal summary
-
Detailed implementation information
-
Governance parameters
-
Implementation timeline
AIPs should also reference the original RFC thread for context.
4. Community Discussion
Before voting begins, an RFC must remain open for at least 2 days of community discussion.
This ensures that the community has sufficient time to review the proposal and provide final feedback.
5. Snapshot Vote
After the discussion period, the proposal moves to a vote on Snapshot.
Voting rules:
-
Voting period: minimum 2 days
-
Voting power determined by SPELL holdings
-
Quorum and voting requirements specified within each proposal
6. Implementation
If the proposal passes the vote:
- Core contributors and relevant teams will proceed with implementation according to the proposal timeline.
If the proposal fails or does not reach quorum:
-
The proposal may be revised and resubmitted, or
-
It will be archived.
7. Proposal Archival
All completed proposals are archived in the Voted Proposals section of the forum.
This creates a permanent and transparent record of governance decisions within the Abracadabra ecosystem.
III. Proposal Templates
To ensure clarity and consistency, proposals should follow the standard governance templates below.
